The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Frederick Andrew Kiehle was born in Preston, Minnesota 1872 August 10. He received his BS and MD from the University of Minnesota in 1901 and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1908 to open a practice specializing in diseases of the ears, eyes, nose and throat. He was an instructor at the University of Oregon Medical School in the Department of Ophthalmology from 1912-1918 and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology from 1918-1929.
